Where to Stay in Ljubljana, Slovenia: Hostel Vrba Review

May 16, 2018

Ljubljana exploded into popularity as the internet caught wind of the stunning city and sights like Lake Bled. I mean really, who wouldn't want to see this in person?

I'm pretty damn happy I did. And I am pretty damn happy I stayed where I did, too!

A friend I met in Zurich recommended Hostel Vrba in Ljubljana to me when I mentioned I needed to see Lake Bled. She had just come from Ljubljana and said she had stayed at the best hostel she had ever been in. I decided to give it a try and well, I have to agree.

-Relaxed, comfortable common room to eat or hang out in
-Aleks is incredibly helpful and kind-if you are a solo traveler, she will make the effort to ensure that you have people to see the city with or go to dinner with.

-Lockers with locks
-Sheets & blankets
-Laundry service available
-Good WiFi

-Aleks should definitely charge as a tour guide. Upon arrival, she asked us what we wanted to do and what we wanted to eat. She pulled out a huge map and marked all points of interest, where we should eat where we shouldn't, and what typical Slovene foods and drinks we should try. She is extremely knowledgeable and friendly! When my friend stayed at the hostel, there was a large amount of solo travelers and she helped them reserve a large table at a restaurant together so they could all get to know one another.
-Very clean!
-Plenty of flyers, maps, booklets, and train/bus schedules to sort through by the front desk to help plan your trip.

Overall Rating:

Well, judging by the post title I think you can guess. 5/5!

My name is Siggi-dubbed by my American friends because of the Icelandic yogurt-I am a writer, polyglot, and aspiring expat, not a cup of yogurt (unfortunately).

My love for travelling began with a trip to Iceland and Sweden to visit my family when I was just 15 years old. I spent so long dreaming of the possibilities of life abroad but I always figured these dreams were too far reached. Flash forward almost 10 years, here I am again, both cursing and thanking this damn travel bug.
